Double daily
service out of Taipei offers convenient connections to the U.S. and
within Asia
United Airlines (NYSE:UAL) announced today that it will add new non-stop
daily service linking Taipei with Tokyo's Narita Airport.
The announcement was made by United Airlines President Rono Dutta during
a visit to Tokyo. The new flights will commence on April 18, 2002,
coinciding with the opening of Tokyo Narita Airport's new runway. United
currently offers 13 daily flights from Narita to gateways in Asia and
the United States. It already services San Francisco daily with a
non-stop flight from Taipei.
“We are delighted to be able to double our daily service from Taipei
with these new flights. This is evidence of United’s growing commitment
to Taiwan,” said Andrea Wu, United’s General Manager for Taiwan.
The flights between Taipei and Narita will be operated with Boeing 777
aircraft. A total of 12 United First Suites, a lie-flat sleeper seat
that converts from an airborne office, 49 seats in United Business and
197 seats in United Economy will be offered. United's Economy Plus
product with enhanced legroom will also be available.
“The new flights will not only offer more options for Taiwan travelers
who want to connect to United’s entire U.S. network of more than 200
destinations. They will also provide a link to the Asian destinations
that United serves from Tokyo including Beijing. ” added Ms. Wu.
The flights are timed to offer United's customers convenient connections
to and from trans-Pacific flights linking Tokyo with Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Chicago O'Hare, New York JFK, Seattle and Honolulu.
Effective April 18, flight UA 801 will leave Narita at 6.30 p.m.,
arriving in Taipei at 9.05 p.m. This flight will operate as a
through-service from New York JFK. Effective April 19, flight UA 800
will depart from Taipei at 10.20 a.m. with arrival in Tokyo at 2.30 p.m.
This flight will continue as a through flight to New York JFK.
The new flights will be open for sale commencing Saturday, December 8.
