PENTHOUSE SPA OPENS AT MANDARIN ORIENTAL, MANILA

Travel News Asia Date: 5 September 2001

A two-level luxury spa opens in September at Mandarin Oriental, Manila on the hotel’s topmost floors. The Oriental Spa in Manila, which features exotic oriental touches, will offer a range of wellness and rejuvenation treatments that combine Eastern and Western influences.

The spa interiors use warm textures inherent to Asia: teak wood walls and ceiling evoke the serenity of traditional Thai interiors; Thai upholstery in rich orange hues blend harmoniously with black slate; and Asian artefacts further enhance the spa’s oriental look. The spa also features an oriental-inspired landscaped garden, relaxation area and four private suites – each with its own bath and steam facility, with one of the suites specially designed for couples.

Treatments

Professional therapists provide personalized treatments, to suit individual needs. The treatments are a blend of Asian and Western programmes, which merge techniques and philosophies from Thailand, China, Bali and Europe. Operated by Sportathlon Philippines, which is under the management of the Spa of Siam, the spa uses the exclusive Thalgo line from France in its treatments.

Signature treatments include:

Natural Honey-Cucumber-Lime Facial – the natural properties of these ingredients help restore the skin balance

Royal Foot Spa or Royal Hand Treatment – a Dead Sea Salt Scrub removes dead skin cells, and relaxing pressure point massage enhances well-being

Papaya Body Polish – a revitalizing body wrap treatment using pure papaya to exfoliate and soften one’s skin

Other body treatments to promote the well-being are:

Aromatic Salt Glow – a body exfoliating treatment with aromatic sea salts and pure lavender body oil.

Micronized Marine Algae – a seaweed-body wrap to promote circulation, detoxification , weight loss and metabolic balance

Thermal Mud Wrap – Dead Sea minerals leave the body feeling refreshed, eliminate impurities and toxins from the body

Facial treatments include Thalgo Aromatic Facial, to soften expression lines; Collagen Hydration Facial, an intense hydrating treatment that begins with exfoliation and cleansing prior to the application of collagen and protein-rich extracts.

Five spa packages to indulge in from a minimum of two hours to a maximum of four hours, include: “Nature’s Dream” (papaya body polish; natural honey; cucumber and lime facial; royal foot spa), “Sea Discovery” (micronized marine algae srap; Thalgo aromatic facial; royal foot spa), “Restorative Pamper”(toning body wrap; massage of choice; collagen hydration facial). Each of the packages comes with an aromatic herbal steam.

The spa will open from 8 am to 10 pm daily.
