VIRGIN ATLANTIC LAUNCHES NEW UPPER CLASS ADS

Travel News Asia Date: 5 September 2001

Virgin Atlantic today announced a glittering line-up of celebrities who will star in an autumn television advertising campaign to promote the airline’s award winning Upper Class service.

Lady Victoria Hervey, Iggy Pop and Miss Piggy make their TV commercial debut and are joined by actor, author and comedian Stephen Fry.

Each celebrity will focus on an aspect of Virgin’s Upper Class service in the tongue-in-cheek commercials created by Rainey Kelly Cambell Rolfe Y&R. Lady Victoria Hervey focuses on the beauty therapy treatments available in Virgin’s exclusive Clubhouses, Miss Piggy enjoys the comfortable and complimentary limousine service, Stephen Fry extols the virtues of an inflight massage while Iggy Pop explains how he enjoys propping up the bar at 35,000 feet.

Virgin Atlantic’s entire Upper Class cabin and service is designed around ‘the modern romance of flight’ and includes its revolutionary seat that offers up to 6ft 8in of sleeping space, an inflight beauty therapy area, the ‘Freedom’ meal service that allows passengers to eat what they want and when they want it and an onboard bar where they can stretch their legs.

Alison Copus, Director of Marketing at Virgin Atlantic, said:

“In the past our ads have been well received and I’m sure this series won’t disappoint – they are stylish and classy with an individual twist, just like Virgin’s Upper Class service.”

The commercials will premier on 6 September beginning with Iggy Pop.
