In another
step toward combining the two airlines, American Airlines has replaced
TWA’s airline code with its own for all flights departing on or after
Dec. 2. From that point on, all TWA-operated flights will be marketed
through travel agents, Internet reservations systems and elsewhere as
American Airlines.
With the completion of this milestone, American will offer loyal
customers of both airlines a route network and an array of services that
are unmatched in the airline industry, including increased access to key
airports in the U.S., South America, Asia, and Europe, as well as
AAdvantage®, the largest and most innovative travel awards program in
the airline industry. In addition, TWA and American are the only
airlines to offer more legroom throughout their coach cabins.
Passengers departing between now and Dec. 1 will experience no change.
They will check in at TWA counters and proceed to TWA gates and aircraft
as usual through Dec. 1. Those who use Internet services to purchase
tickets for travel Dec. 2 or after will only find American Airlines
listed. Passengers holding TWA tickets do not need to do anything. Their
TWA tickets will be valid.
On Dec. 2, TWA gates and ticket counters will all have American Airlines
signage. Also, Trans World Express, TWA’s regional service, will be
rebranded as "American Connection," offering convenient connections with
American at St. Louis.
Since American purchased the assets of TWA in April, the company has
been strategically combining processes and systems to accomplish as
smooth a transition as possible for its customers. To date, the company
has integrated management and staff positions and is working with unions
from American and TWA on integration agreements. |
