Under the
extensive effort of Macau Government Tourist Office, Air Macau and the
related entities, the first charter flight between Macau and Japan
arrived from Nagasaki on December 30, 2000. The charter flight between
Macau and Japan is a good start for Macau to strive to establish
schedule flight with Japan.
There were over 170 passengers on the flight, which arrived Macau
International Airport on December 30, 2000. The Japanese visitors were
received by a lion dance ceremony and warm welcome by the officials of
MGTO and Air Macau.
Most of the Japanese visitors came to Macau for the first time and they
have a good impression of Macau, particularly interested in the
architecture with features of east and west, inexpensive but quality
products.
Japan has always been the major market of tourists for Macau. We will
put our full effort to flourish the direct air service between Macau and
Japan, which will have considerable contribution to the development of
Japan as a tourist market to Macau, said Joo Manual Costa Antunes, the
Director of Macau Government Tourist Office.
The charter flight service is co-organized by Macau Government Tourist
Office, Air Macau and Japan Travel Bureau (Kyushu Branch). There will be
4 direct round-trip charter service between Macau and Nagasaki/Fukuoka
of Japan till January 8 of 2001. |
