Singapore
Airlines (SIA) will increase its services to Japan with an additional
three times weekly Singapore-Tokyo service from mid-April 2002.
Currently, there are 17 SIA weekly services to Tokyo.
On 6 November 2001, SIA announced schedule changes to rationalize its
operations on the United States routes to better match expected demand.
In line with these changes, the three-times weekly
Singapore-Amsterdam-Chicago service will be suspended from 13 January
2002 until 30 April 2002. Amsterdam will continue to be served six times
weekly. From the beginning of May 2002, SIA expects to revert to its
original level of operation.
Similarly, three of the daily Singapore-Frankfurt-New York (JFK)
services will be suspended from 13 January 2002 to 30 April 2002. During
this same period, Frankfurt will be served eleven times weekly.
SIA has also made some reductions in services to North Asia and
Southeast Asia. Outlined below are details of service reductions to be
implemented:-
Since mid-November 2001
Weekly services to Taipei have been reduced from 22 to 18.
From 13 January 2002
Singapore-Bangkok-Osaka services will be reduced from seven times weekly
to five. Osaka services will thus be reduced from 17 to 15 times weekly.
Singapore-Fukuoka-Hiroshima services will be reduced from four times a
week to twice. Fukuoka, which is also served by three direct flights,
will thus be served five times weekly instead of seven.
Singapore-Nagoya services will be reduced from seven per week to six.
Singapore-Surabaya services will be further reduced from ten times
weekly to seven.
Singapore-Denpasar services will be reduced from 28 times weekly to 25.
Service reductions on the Nagoya, Bangkok-Osaka and Denpasar routes are
expected to be restored from May 2002.
SIA will continue to monitor its operations system-wide and make
adjustments where necessary to match capacity with demand. |
