NEW GENERAL MANAGER FOR GRAN MELIÁ JAKARTA

Leading European hotel chain Sol Meliá, today announced the appointment of Mr. Hubert Klemenz as the new General Manager for it's flagship Asian property, the five star Gran Meliá Jakarta in Indonesia. He has also been appointed the Vice-President of Human Resources, Sol Meliá Asia Pacific.

Mr. Klemenz brings to the post almost 30 years international experience. He has held senior management positions with a number of international hotel chains, - including the Hilton, Swissôtel, and Sheraton - throughout Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Mr. Klemenz is no newcomer to the Asian hospitality industry scene. Since his first Asian posting to China in 1988, Mr. Klemenz has gone on to work in South Korea and Kuala Lumpur before joining Sol Meliá as General Manager for Meliá Purosani in Indonesia in 1996. His last role was to manage the Meliá Hanoi in Vietnam which opened in 1999.

A Swiss national, Mr. Klemenz gained his professional training from the Hotel School of Lausanne in Switzerland and is fluent in English, French and German.

The company is also the world's largest resort hotel chain. Its properties in Asia include Gran Meliá Jakarta, Meliá Bali (incorporating The Garden Villas), Meliá Benoa All-Inclusive Resort (Bali), Sol Lovina (Bali), Meliá Purosani (Yogyakarta), Meliá Panorama (Batam), and Sol Elite Marbella (Anyer) in Indonesia; Meliá Hanoi in Vietnam; Meliá Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; and Sol Twin Towers (Bangkok) in Thailand. Sol Meliá has signed contracts to take-over and manage a further 80 hotels by the year 2002.
