China Southern Airlines & Garuda Indonesia Ink New Code Share Pledge; Carriers To Offer New Services on Jakarta/Guangzhou Run

China Southern Airlines (NYSE: ZNH) (HKSE: 1055), the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, is pleased to announce that it has signed a code share agreement on the Jakarta/Guangzhou route - starting Saturday 8 December - with Garuda Indonesia, the national airline of The Republic of Indonesia.

In making the announcement, Mr. Li Kun, Vice President, China Southern Airlines, said, "Clearly the Sino-Indonesian route is one of the important international routes in Chinese aviation. With this agreement, we can anticipate that both our airlines will further develop joint opportunities to advance this important route by tapping into each other's advantages and work cooperatively with one another on an ongoing basis."

Garuda Indonesia is the national airline of The Republic of Indonesia and is 100% owned by the Indonesian Government. The airline and its subsidiaries operate more than 100 aircraft, carry over 10 million passengers a year and employ upwards of 25,000 people. Garuda itself operates 44 aircraft, many the latest models available, carries almost six million passengers a year and employs nearly 9,500 people.

Mr. Li added, "with full implementation of this code share agreement, both parties will achieve the maximum benefit of increasing flight frequencies and percentage of seat usage while fully utilizing current aircraft resources - and increasing revenues - but not requiring both parties to dedicate additional (and valuable) airline resources. This code share will ultimately provide more choices and improved services for passengers travelling between China and Indonesia."

Flights sold by Garuda Indonesia and operated by China Southern Airlines will depart Jakarta to Guangzhou every Thursday and Sunday:
