Regional travel trade hosted by The Fairmont Dubai

Travel News Asia Date: 31 October 2001

- Landmark hotel scheduled for February opening -

Travel trade delegations from four GCC countries are being hosted by The Fairmont Dubai today as part of its pre-opening programme to introduce the landmark hotel to potential customers.

Agents are flying in from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar as guests of The Fairmont Dubai and will join their counterparts from the UAE plus officials from the Government of Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing for a presentation and hotel tour, followed by dinner tonight.

Michael Kaile, vice president and hotel general manager, said it was a great pleasure to welcome so many representatives of the regional travel industry, allowing them to get a taste of what was to come from the newest star on the hotel horizon in Dubai.

“Rather than running the traditional regional sales blitz, we have taken the opportunity to bring in travel management from the GCC states to enable them not only to preview The Fairmont Dubai, but also to meet with fellow agents to assess strategies in the current business climate.”

He added: “Working with bodies such as DTCM enables both hotels such as The Fairmont Dubai and also the travel trade to present a positive approach to marketing the Arabian Gulf, as well as Dubai as a place where the region does business.”

The 393-room hotel, located opposite the Dubai World Trade Centre and new convention centre opening in 2003, offers pedestrian access to the exhibition and convention complex via The Fairmont Walkway over the Sheikh Zayed Road.
