Travel News Asia Date: 31 May 2001

Just as the summer travel season is heating up, American Airlines is switching to all Boeing 777 service on its two daily flights between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Londons Gatwick Airport. The airline already operates flight 50 with the 777 and will operate flight 78 with the popular aircraft starting June 1.

"The Triple Seven is the pride of our international fleet and we are delighted that we can now operate it on both of our daily nonstops between Dallas/Fort Worth and London Gatwick," said Mike Gunn, Americans executive vice president for marketing and planning.

Americans 777s have fully flat sleeper seats in first class and are now being reconfigured to have 60 inches of legroom in business class. The main cabin is also being converted to Americans popular "More Room Throughout Coach" seating configuration with more legroom in every row something found only on American Airlines. Coach customers also get extra comfort from new-generation seats with leather six-way adjustable headrests.

Once the reconfiguration is complete later this summer, Americans trans-Atlantic 777s will have 245 seats 16 First Class, 35 Business Class and 194 Coach.
