Singapore
Airlines (SIA) will proudly launch its thrice-weekly services to Chicago
this week, with the inaugural flight departing tomorrow, Wednesday 1
August.
Flights will depart Singapore on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at
2335 hours and arrive in Chicago’s O’Hare airport, via Amsterdam, at
1005 hours the next day. Singapore bound flights will depart Chicago at
1955 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Singapore
two days later at 0700 hours or 0730 hours, depending on day of
departure.
The inaugural flight to Chicago marks the introduction of the newest
addition to the SIA fleet, the Boeing 777-200ER (extended range)
aircraft, which has a seating capacity of 30 in Raffles Class and 255 in
Economy Class.
Said Mr Tan Chik Quee, Senior Vice President Marketing, “We are
constantly looking at opportunities to increase the travel options we
offer our customers. Chicago is a vibrant business and financial centre,
known also for its architecture, music and entertainment scene. We
believe the new service will be popular with the travelling public in
Singapore, the Netherlands and the United States.”
Passengers travelling to Chicago on the new B777-200ER aircraft can look
forward to enhanced seating comfort with more legroom. They will also be
able to experience the new generation KrisWorld entertainment system,
offering an even wider selection of movies, short features and games.
For the first time ever, passengers will be able to engage in friendly
competition with their fellow travellers through the SIA Inflight
Challenge, SIA’s first multi-player game, which takes the form of a
general knowledge quiz.
The new-generation KrisWorld system also provides passengers in all
classes with audio and video on demand, allowing them to enjoy
entertainment at the time of their choice, and start, pause, stop,
rewind and fast forward audio and video entertainment as they wish.
Chicago, known as ‘Home of the Blues’ – will be SIA’s fourth destination
in the USA, following New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. With
this new destination, SIA will now operate 42 weekly direct flights from
Singapore to these cities.
Singapore Airlines, together with its regional subsidiary, SilkAir, fly
