Senior
officials from Air Mauritius called on the Government of Dubai's
Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing recently to discuss the
potential of enhancing co-operation and boost two-way traffic between
the emirate and the island nation.
"Dubai is a major aviation hub and the leading trade and tourism centre
in the region and the decision of Air Mauritius to choose Dubai as their
Gulf focal point to commence a flight is tactical," said DTCM Director
General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem.
Rakesh B. Koolwant, Sales & Marketing Manager Air Mauritius confirmed
that the airline would commence a weekly flight to Dubai from 31st
October. "We have selected Dubai as the base for our Gulf operations
simply because the emirate has emerged as the leading center in the
region for aviation and tourism and the level of excellence Dubai has
achieved in such a short span of time is a tribute to the vision of the
rulers."
Mr. Koolwant remarked that visionary projects such as the Palm Islands
development would ensure that Dubai is well placed to meet the demands
of the tourism industry in the next decade as well.
DTCM Manager Missions, Hamad bin Mejren gave a comprehensive
presentation to the three-member team and said, "Dubai combines the
comforts and conveniences of the Western world with the unique charm and
adventure of the Middle East, an exotic destination with a cosmopolitan
lifestyle."
