CARY GRAY
APPOINTED GENERAL MANAGER OF THE ST. REGIS SHANGHAI
Cary Michael Gray, former General Manager of The Westin Tokyo Hotel in
Tokyo, Japan has been named General Manager of The St. Regis Shanghai,
China which is scheduled to open in July 2001. Mr. Gray has 25 years of
luxury hotel industry experience including a 21-year career with the ITT
Sheraton Group, serving in various management positions since 1980.
Mr. Gray brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having
recently served as General Manager of The Westin Tokyo Hotel in Japan
and concurrently as Area Managing Director, Starwood Hotels & Resorts –
Japan and Guam, since 1998. Prior to this position, Gray was General
Manager of various Luxury Collection and Sheraton Hotels in Australia,
Thailand and Japan.
Mr. Gray has an outstanding track record of profitable hotel operations
in luxury city hotels and resorts and speaks three languages (English,
Japanese and Spanish), having graduated from the University of the State
of New York, with an Associate in Science. He began forming the
pre-opening team of The St. Regis Shanghai in September 2000 and is
responsible for strategic direction and organizational planning of the
opening. Once open, he will be responsible for managing The St. Regis
Shanghai on a daily basis and ensure that the hotel's impeccable quality
of service and standards are maintained at the highest level.
Gray is extremely passionate about the hotel business. The hospitality
industry lives in the blood of the Gray family with a history dating
back to the 1850’s in Waikiki, Hawaii where the Gray family operated
Gray’s by the Sea, a beachside hotel located on the site overlapping the
boundaries of the present Sheraton Waikiki and Halekulani Hotel. He
personally believes in creating a Growth, Profits, and Fun environment
for all associates and adopts an enthusiastic and effective approach to
the business of hospitality in luxury city hotels and resorts.
A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mr. Gray resides in Shanghai with his
family.
PAUL NASH APPOINTED HOTEL MANAGER OF THE ST. REGIS SHANGHAI
Paul Nash, former Hotel Manager of The Sheraton Nusa Indah Resort and
Bali International Convention Center in Indonesia, has been named Hotel
Manager of The St. Regis Shanghai, China which is scheduled to open in
July 2001. Mr. Nash has more than 18 years of luxury hotel industry
experience with the Starwood Group, Shangri-La and Regent/ Four Seasons,
serving in various management positions since 1985.
Mr. Nash has extensive experience in operations and food and beverage,
having recently served as Hotel Manager of The Sheraton Nusa Indah
Resort and Bali International Convention Center in Indonesia since 1999.
Prior to this position, Mr. Nash held various management positions in
food and beverage at Luxury Collection, Shangri-La and Regent/ Four
Seasons Hotels in London, Beverly Hills, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Sydney.
A native of London, United Kingdom, Nash speaks English, French and
Thai. He graduated from Washington State University with an Associate in
Business Administration supplementing his Applied Degree in Hotel
Catering and Business Management. Mr. Nash will be responsible for all
aspects of the hotel operations and coordination of the pre-opening
phase of The St. Regis Shanghai.
DAVID KATEMOPOULOS APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING/ EXECUTIVE
ASSISTANT MANAGER OF THE ST. REGIS SHANGHAI
David Katemopoulos, former Director of Sales and Marketing of the
Peninsula Group in Hong Kong, has been named Director of Sales and
Marketing/ Executive Assistant Manager of The St. Regis Shanghai, China
which is scheduled to open in July 2001. Mr. Katemopoulos has more than
16 years of sales and marketing management experience of luxury hotels
and sales centers, including a 13-year career with the Peninsula Group,
serving in various management positions since 1988.
Mr. Katemopoulos has exceptional strengths in sales and marketing
analysis and planning, sales operations and managing both traditional
and electronic distribution channels, having recently served as Director
of Sales and Marketing for regional sales offices of the Peninsula
Group. Prior to this position, he held various sales and marketing
management and operations positions with The Portman Shanghai, The
Kowloon Hotel, The Garden Hotel, Guangzhou, Shangri-La International and
Tour East (HK) Limited.
Fluent in English and three Chinese dialects, Katemopoulos graduated
from Lincoln University, Richmond, San Francisco with an Associate in
Business Administration. He will be responsible for managing the sales
and marketing function of The St. Regis Shanghai and will concurrently
assist with overall operations of the hotel.
Located in the heart of the emerging financial district of Pudong,
Shanghai, The St. Regis Shanghai will be the first international luxury
hotel to open in Shanghai in the 21st century. It will set the new
standard for guest room size as it features the largest hotel rooms in
Shanghai, with each standard room being 48 square meters in size. The
St. Regis Shanghai will have 318 Hirsch Bedner interior designed
guestrooms and suites with the finest quality furnishings. All
guestrooms feature custom designed mattresses, Herman Miller “Aeron”
chairs, BOSE CD Wave Radios and “Rainforest” Showers. The finest product
