Hotels & Resorts – the hotel management arm of Singapore-listed
Company-Hotel Properties Limited, announced today it’s new management
contract with a beachfront property, Casa Del Mar on Malaysia’s idyllic
resort island of Langkawi.
Langkawi is located north of the state of Penang, northwest of Peninsula
Malaysia and is home to several upmarket resort-style properties
catering to individual travellers seeking a vacation with privacy.
“We already have a niche hillside resort property - The Lakehouse, a
18-suite Tudor-style resort in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia. Casa Del Mar
will give our guests another alternative to the different holiday
options that our customers want to experience,” says Mr. Edmund
Nicholas, Vice President – Marketing.
Casa Del Mar (Spanish for “Home By the Sea”), Langkawi, is located on
the island’s beautiful Pantai Cenang Beach, a short ride from Langkawi
airport and the island’s main town of Kuah. Finishing touches are being
completed at the Casa Del Mar and the resort will soft open in June
2001.
Casa Del Mar is set as a tranquil hideaway for travellers looking for
privacy and peace. With its Mediterranean architecture and cosy
interiors, the beachfront resort has 31 rooms and suites with
breathtaking sea view from every room, a swimming pool, outdoor
Jacuzzis, Spa and innovative dining, bar and leisure facilities.
“Your experience at Casa Del Mar is going to be surreal,” says Mr.
Nicholas. “We are going to tailor our service to the individual guests’
needs. This is Casa Del Mar’s direction,” he added.
Mr. Nicholas pointed out that traditional hospitality practices would be
challenged so that every aspect of the property is in harmony with the
objective of creating individualised experiences. At Casa Del Mar, chefs
can do away with the standard restaurant fare to personalise daily menus
or even lay out a private dinner on the beach, if a guest so desires !
He feels that this upmarket beachfront property in Langkawi will appeal
predominantly to couples in the 30 to 55 age group who no longer define
“holiday value” simply by size and quality of room accommodation.
"New-age travellers perceive holidays as personal experiences, and this
will be delivered through our personalised yet unobtrusive service
designed specially to pamper the individual,” he said.
According to Mr. Nicholas, Casa Del Mar will be targeted at discerning
travellers from Asia-Pacific & Europe. Malaysia & Singapore’s domestic
and expatriate communities will also be one of the main target markets
for the property.
Casa Del Mar has 24 Deluxe rooms, three Junior and three Deluxe suites,
and one top-of-the-range Royal Suite. All rooms & suites come equipped
with ceiling fans & air-conditioning; in-room remote control colour
television with CNN news coverage and in-house movies; radio; mini-bar;
telephone with IDD capability; private bath & shower; and a private
verandah.
Access to Langkawi is easy as the island’s airport is served by
connecting domestic flights and from Malaysia’s international air
gateways at Kuala Lumpur and Penang. In addition to this, connections to
Langkawi are also available from Singapore Changi Airport. Access by
road is through Malaysia’s North-South Highway followed by an express
ferry ride from Kuala Perlis or Kuala Kedah. The ferry ride takes 45
minutes and 1 hour and 15 minutes respectively.
