Queen Sirikit Medical Committee Organizes the 5th Fund Raising Gala Dinner in Aid of Rama Thibodi Hospital Patients

Thanpuying Viraya Javakul, Chairperson of the Queen Sirikit Medical Center Organizing Committee, chaired a press conference to announce the 5th Queen Sirikit Medical Fund Raising Gala Dinner in support of the patients at Rama Thibodi Hospital, at the Shangri-La Hotel.

On August 9, 2001, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit will graciously preside over the Gala evening at the Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, which will be organized to mark the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty ’s Birthday. The proceeds will go towards helping the patients and buying medical equipment at Rama Thibodi Hospital. This year, the Rama Thibodi Hospital will purchase the PET Scanner to assist doctors in detecting cancerous cells at an early stage.

Highlights of the evening include two cultural performances – a mythical tale “I-Nao” and literary arts. “I-Nao” is a well-known royal novel written by King Rama VI of the Chakri Dynasty, which will be presented in a form of ‘Li-Kay’, performed by Chaiya and Chariya Mitrechai, the famous Li-Kay performers of Thailand.

Well-known Thai celebrities and artists including Mr. Phongphat Sampavakup, Asst. Professional Duangjai Amatayakul, Mr. Dolachai Boonyarattanavej, Nanthida Kaewbuasai, Mai Charoenpura, Nicole Terio, Maleewan Jemina, Saowanitre Navaphan, Theeraphat Sajjakul, Puvanart Kunnaparin, Sirasak Itthipolpanich, Sumet Ongart and Mike Piromporn will join the literary arts performances to sing love songs from legendary Thai literatures.

The event will be broadcast live via TV Channel 5 on Thursday, August 9, 2001, at 20.30 hours. The recording will be broadcast at a later date via TV Channel 7.
