Two additions
make United Airlines the largest foreign carrier in Hong Kong, in terms
of non-stop destinations served
United Airlines this week launches two daily non-stop services from Hong
Kong to New York City and Delhi in India, offering even more convenience
for travelers linking the SAR with two key business centres in the US
and Asia.
The Hong Kong-Delhi inaugural flight UA 1 departed at 9.45 pm yesterday
and arrived in New Delhi this morning at 12.30 am. This service is part
of United’s "Round-the-World" route linking Washington D.C., Los
Angeles, Hong Kong, Delhi and London. United is the only airline in the
world to offer single-carrier service around the globe.
"The decision to fly to Delhi was driven by the robust growth of the
Indian market and recognizes the strong links between these two great
cities," said Jim Brennan, Vice President-Pacific South.
Today, United also launches the world's longest non-stop service to New
York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), offering
business travelers direct access to the US's top financial centre. In
addition, UA flies to three other US gateways, Chicago, San Francisco
and Los Angeles, making it the airline offering the most nonstop flights
to the US from Hong Kong.
UA Flight 820 will leave Hong Kong at 5.05pm this evening and arrive at
JFK Airport at 8.35pm local time. Flight 821 will depart JFK daily at
10.50am, arriving in Hong Kong 15 hours and 40 minutes later at 2.30pm
the following day.
"This is a very exciting addition to our list of nonstop services," said
Nicolas E. Ferri, General Sales Manager in Hong Kong. "Hong Kong is now
linked directly to New York’s JFK, the premier international airport by
America's largest airline. We know Asia, we know the US. It's a perfect
fit."
United will operate Boeing 747-400 aircraft on both routes, configured
with 14 seats in United First, 73 seats in Enhanced United Business and
260 seats in United Economy Plus.
Also today, United adds significantly to its services between China and
the US, with the launch of a non-stop Beijing to Chicago route and the
addition of two more flights a week between Shanghai and San Francisco
making it a daily service.
United Airlines offers 2,300 flights a day to 133 destinations in 28
countries and two U.S. territories. In Hong Kong, United now operates
daily services to New York’s JFK airport Chicago, San Francisco, Los
Angeles, Delhi, Singapore and Tokyo. |
