Delta Air
Lines (NYSE: DAL) will inaugurate service from Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX) to Nagoya on April 1, 2001.
The new flight, which will be the only daily nonstop service from Los
Angeles to Nagoya, will be flown on Delta’s MD-11 aircraft featuring the
award-winning BusinessElite™ service. The flight will depart Los Angeles
at 11:55 a.m. and arrive in Nagoya at 3:45 p.m. On the return, the
flight departs Nagoya at 5:45 p.m. and arrives in Los Angeles at 12:00
Noon.
To introduce these new flights, Delta SkyMiles members who fly nonstop
between Los Angeles and Nagoya will earn double miles for paid Economy
Class travel and triple miles for paid BusinessElite travel from April 1
through June 30, 2001. SkyMiles members in the United States, Canada and
the Caribbean must pre-enroll in this offer by calling 888-558-3358 and
entering code 1006. SkyMiles members may also earn a bonus of 1,000
miles for a round trip or 500 miles each way for each Los Angeles-Nagoya
ticket purchased at delta.com.
"These new flights will provide greater opportunities for U.S. travelers
and shippers to use Delta service to Japan based on Delta’s extensive
network and convenient connections," said Paulette Corbin, Delta’s vice
president - airport customer service.
The new Los Angeles service will provide travelers with connecting
flights to 24 destinations in the United States and Mexico. Delta’s
expanded BusinessElite U.S. transcontinental service also connects Los
Angeles with daily, nonstop flights to New York’s JFK and Boston.
In addition to the new Nagoya service, on April 1 Delta will introduce
nonstop service from New York’s JFK to Tokyo. With the new service, the
airline will have three nonstop flights to Tokyo -- from Los Angeles,
New York and Atlanta. Delta’s flights to Japan feature the MD-11
aircraft with the award-winning BusinessElite service. Delta recently
introduced BusinessElite U.S. service on transcontinental routes between
JFK and Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. Delta’s premium cabin
service, BusinessElite, features sleeper-style seats with five feet of
legroom, a unique one-touch fully electronic state-of-the-art control
system, plus upgraded amenities such as personal in-seat videos.
