Travel News Asia Date: 29 October 2001

Opened in 1990, China World Hotel has played host to Heads of State, visiting dignitaries and captains of industry. Throughout the years, the hotel has been recognized as the leading hotel in Beijing and is consistently the recipient of numerous prestigious awards.

To maintain China World Hotel’s reputation as the pre-eminent property in Beijing, the hotel will be embarking on a renovation program. Commencing January 2002, the program will encompass all guestrooms, the main lobby, function rooms, Health Club and the introduction of a new and innovative dining venue.

Three distinctive room types will be introduced in Autumn 2002, including a new ‘Premier’ category together with the Deluxe and legendary Horizon Club Floors. All rooms will be equipped to accommodate the business travellers’ needs with new dedicated work areas and electronic connectivity. In addition, ‘Premier’ and Horizon Club rooms will feature a completely new bathroom with a separate shower.

During this period, the hotel will continue to operate as usual with all restaurants and bars with the exception of The Coffee Garden. Maximum effort will be made to ensure minimal disturbance to the hotel’s loyal and valued guests.

“ This program is our commitment to providing premium accommodation coupled with the personalized service one has come to expect from China World Hotel, ” said Peter Carmichael, General Manager.

China World Hotel, Beijing is a member of Shangri-la Hotels and Resorts, which operates 38 hotels and resorts in China, Fiji, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, representing a room inventory of almost 20,000.
