Thai Airways
International Public Company Limited today announced a net profit of
1,929 million baht for the financial year 2000/01, from 1 October 2000
to 30 September 2001.
Mr. Virabongsa Ramangkura, THAI's Chairman and Acting President,
announced a total revenue of 129,172 million baht and a net profit of
1,929 million baht, which is a decrease of 2,788 million baht or 59.11
per cent compared to the same period last year. This is equivalent to
1.38 baht earnings per share compared to the 3.37 baht of the same
period last year.
The decrease was mainly due to the relatively high cost of fuel in
comparison to the cost in the previous year, resulting in an increase of
5,630 million baht in fuel expense. THAI also experienced a loss from
the weakening of Thai baht as a result of foreign loan adjustment,
causing a loss of 3,913 million baht in foreign exchange, an loss of 612
million baht more than in the same period last year. |
