Air Canada is
pleased to report that it's operations have normalized at all major
Canadian, US and international airports, and that customers now have the
opportunity in-flight to join Air Canada in supporting the Canadian Red
Cross's USA appeal.
As a result of considerably reduced airport congestion, check-in and
security processing times are returning to customary levels. Passengers
are reminded that minimum check-in times before flights are as follows:
30 minutes for Rapidair flights, one hour for domestic flights, 90
minutes for U.S. flights and three hours for international flights. The
airline advises all passengers to carry photo identification.
Air Canada joins the Canadian Red Cross in a new partnership whereby
customers may now make an in-flight donation to help raise funds to
assist those affected by the September 11 terrorist attacks. For the
next month, the airline's flight attendants will distribute and collect
Red Cross donation envelopes on Air Canada flights across its entire
network.
"Since the tragic events of September 11, we have seen a huge outpouring
of generosity from corporations like Air Canada," said Pierre Duplessis,
Secretary General, Canadian Red Cross. "There will be a need for long
term assistance for the countless people whose lives have been shattered
by these events."
"This campaign provides one more opportunity for Air Canada customers -
Canadians and travellers from around the world - to give their support
to the ongoing humanitarianism of the Red Cross in the aftermath of
September 11," said Peter Donolo, Senior Vice President, Corporate
Affairs and Government Relations, Air Canada.

Air Canada Responds to Increased Insurance Costs with System-Wide
Insurance Surcharge
In response to the rising cost of aviation insurance since the events of
September 11, and in accordance with similar initiatives by other
carriers, Air Canada announced today the implementation of an airline
insurance surcharge of CDN $3.00 one way for travel system-wide.
The new surcharge will be applied to all tickets issued on or after
September 28, 2001 and will be automatically added to the base price of
a ticket. The effective date for international fares is subject to
government approval.
This surcharge covers increased insurance costs independent of the third
party liabilities indemnity Transport Canada has agreed to provide for
all Canadian air carriers for a maximum ninety-day period. |
