THAI Announces Board Meeting Results

Today (27 December 2001), Thai Airways International Public Company Limited held a Board of Directors' Meeting, chaired by Mr. Virabongsa Ramangkura, THAI's Chairman, with the following results:

1. Selection of Thai's President

The Board of Directors has agreed to terminate selection of THAI's President, after receipt of a letter from the Permanent-Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare stating that the ministry did not send Ms. Jaemsri Sukchoterat to represent the State Enterprise Labor Relations Committee under the Committee for Nomination of the Selection Committee.

In accordance with the Standard Quality of Directors and State Enterprise Employees Act 2001 (Issue No. 4), the Board of Directors concluded that the composition of the selection committee was incomplete and that the search for THAI's President should be reopened. In order to speed up the process of appointing a new THAI President, the Board must appoint a new Selection Committee after which the committee must select THAI's President within 30 days.

The existing candidates remain qualified as applicants to the post.

2. Increasing Flight Operations During the New Year Period

The Board of Directors acknowledged an increase of THAI flight operations between 28 December 2001-2 January 2002 to accommodate the increasing demand in domestic air travel during the New Year period:

- Five additional flights on the route Bangkok-Chiang Mai v.v. on 28, 29 December 2001 and 1,2 January 2002

- Two additional flights on the route Bangkok-Chiang Rai v.v. on 29, 31 December 2001

- Six additional flights on the route Bangkok-Phuket v.v. on 28, 29, 31 December 2001 and 1,2 January 2002

3. Establishment of Transport Safety Center

The Board of Directors acknowledged the establishment of THAI's Transport Safety Center to facilitate and provide information for air travelers during the holiday period. This joint cooperation between THAI and the Transport and Communications Ministry places special emphasis on maximizing passenger safety and ensuring that no passengers are stranded at airports.
