International
tourism consultancy, The Questbay Group, has appointed industry veteran,
Mr. A.A. Gede Rai of Bali, Indonesia as Group Specialist Advisor – South
East Asia.
Mr. Rai, who recently retired as President Director of the Bali Tourism
Development Corporation (BTDC), joins some of the world’s most
experienced travel, tourism and related industry specialists as a member
of this steadily-growing consultancy firm.
Since 1966, when he first entered the industry as Assistant to the
Managing Director of HII Corporation’s Hotel Bali Beach, Mr.Rai (62) has
had a distinguished professional career, much of this in the
international hotel industry, prior to his appointment as BTDC’s Chief
Executive in 1995.
Recipient of PATA’s coveted Award of Merit at PATA 1990 in Vancouver,
Mr. Rai has also had a long involvement in that regional tourism body
and in sister industry bodies, both within Indonesia and throughout
South East Asia. He continues to serve as an Executive Committee Member
of the Bali Tourism Board and remains an active Executive Committee
Member of PATA’s Bali Chapter. Bali will be host destination for PATA
2003.
