STAR CRUISES ANNOUNCES NEW CRUISE SEASON FOR ITS ASIA-PACIFIC OPERATIONS AND CHANGES IN FLEET DEPLOYMENT

Travel News Asia Date: 25 September 2001

Star Cruises, announce the latest fleet deployment changes and the itineraries for its ships positioned in the Asia-Pacific region for the new cruise season from September/October 2001 to March/April 2002.

CHANGES IN STAR CRUISES , NCL AND ORIENT LINES FLEET DEPLOYMENT

SuperStar Aries which was to be transferred to Orient Lines and renamed Ocean Voyager for worldwide cruising will remain under the Star Cruises fleet in Asia-Pacific with her transfer to Orient Lines delayed.

With the delayed transfer of SuperStar Aries, the SS Norway which was originally scheduled for deployment in the Asia-Pacific region will now remain in the Norwegian Cruise Line ("NCL") fleet for the near term. The SS Norway will return to her Miami base in time for Christmas this year after a drydocking in Germany.

The changes to the Star Cruises and NCL fleet deployment schedule were made in part in response to the anticipated shifts in travel patterns of North American and consumers worldwide over the coming months following the terrible events in New York and Washington recently.

The SS Norway, which was scheduled to replace the SuperStar Aries after her farewell trans-Atlantic cruises will now continue to operate in a market where she is known and well accepted. This is evident from the numerous emails and letters from ardent fans to both Star Cruises and NCL for the SS Norway which is rich with legacy to remain in Miami. SS Norway will return to service in Miami on 23 December, 2001 offering seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami to St. Thomas, St. Johns, St. Maarten and NCL's private Bahamian island, Great Stirrup Cay.

In Asia-Pacific, Star Cruises will take delivery of the Hyundai Kumgang (formerly SuperStar Capricorn and chartered to Hyundai) in November 2001. The itineraries and deployment schedule of the Hyundai Kumgang which is the sister ship of Norwegian Star I will be announced later.

In the medium term, Star Cruises will concentrate on building up its presence in the cruise ports in the Asia-Pacific region namely, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok (Laem Chabang), Keelung (Taiwan) and Fukuoka (Japan) with improved itineraries.

"The delayed reciprocal transfer of SuperStar Aries and the SS Norway will also allow the Group time to assess the travelling patterns and economic trends in the coming months," commented Dato' KT Lim, Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer of Star Cruises.
