Six Continents
Hotels has appointed Thomas Hilberath as general manager of the
Inter-Continental and Holiday Inn hotels which are being built as part
of Citystars Heliopolis, the $600 million landmark development at the
heart of the Egyptian capital.
With 533 guest rooms, 184 deluxe suites and apartments, and 73 bungalows
and chalets, the Heliopolis Inter-Continental Hotel opens in December
2002. Opening six months later, the Holiday Inn Heliopolis will offer
330 rooms and suites.
The two hotels provide the key accommodation element for business and
leisure visitors to the Citystars complex, the largest of its kind in
the Middle East, combining major retail shopping, entertainment,
commercial office and residential facilities.
German-born Hilberath, 51, has 29 years’ experience in the hotel
industry, the bulk of this gained while serving as general manager at
Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza hotels in Germany, Botswana and South
Africa.
From 1996-97 he was regional general manger for four Holdiday Inn hotels
and one Crowne Plaza property in Hamburg. The following year he was
preopening project manager for the Crowne Plaza Bucharest in Rumania. He
has received frequent recognition for performance during his career.
The two new hotels are among nine new hotel properties currently under
development in Egypt by Six Continents Hotels, which already operates
three Inter-Continental hotels, one Crowne Plaza resort and three
Holiday Inn resorts in the country. |
