Vacation Club International (MVCI), the Vacation Ownership division of
Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR), announces - Marriott's Sharm
Beach Villas - as its first Vacation Ownership resort in Egypt. Situated
on the Om el-Seid Bay shoreline near the village of Sharm el-Sheikh, the
104-villa resort (proposed) will be adjacent to the 168-room Renaissance
Golden View Hotel opening later this year. Marriott's Sharm Beach Villas
is targeted to open February 2002.
"Our project in Sharm el-Sheikh is another tremendous step forward in
our global growth strategy," said Stephen P. Weisz, president, MVCI.
"Not only is it our first property in the Middle East, but the first
time a MVCI resort is bordering a Renaissance hotel. We now have 12
resorts in a mixed-use environment offering our owners the benefit of
amenities from both our resort and the full-service property."
Marriott's Sharm Beach Villas will boast spacious one and two bedroom
villas ranging in size from 833 to 1,250 square feet with panoramic sea
views.
Upon opening, 24 villas will showcase a master bedroom with bathtub and
shower, fully-equipped kitchen, separate living and dining areas,
multiple televisions with a VCR in the living room, washer and dryer and
a balcony.
Sales for the resort begin August 2001 with prices ranging from $10,900
to $14,900 per week of ownership.
