HOTEL & CATERING INDUSTRY LEADER PAYS TRIBUTES TO DUBAI'S TOURISM PROGRESS

The President of the Hotel & Catering International Management Association (HCIMA), Alistair Telfer, called on the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing's (DTCM) Director General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem yesterday (October 24th) and paid high tributes to the progress made by Dubai in the tourism business in recent years.

Mr. Telfer met with Mr. bin Sulayem at the DTCM Head office in Dubai and expressed appreciation of the emirate's progress on the tourism front in a short span of time.

Mr. bin Sulayem briefed the visiting delegate about the DTCM's efforts in establishing Dubai as a leading tourist destination. "We will continue to market the emirate actively both regionally and internationally, and thus contribute further to Dubai's growing reputation as a top class tourism destination," he stressed.

HCIMA is the worldwide professional body for managers in the hospitality industry and promotes the highest professional standards of management and education in the hospitality sector.

The HCIMA membership exceeds 23,000 across more than 100 countries. Established in 1971, HCIMA's global influence brings together individuals from all sectors of the hospitality industry - hotels, contract catering, restaurants, fast food outlets, clubs, hospitals, education, armed forces and the teaching profession.

In addition to being the President of the HCIMA, Alistair Telfer also holds the post of Secretary of the Carlton Club in London and Treasurer of the ACORN Club.

A Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, Mr. Telfer is amongst other things: a Governor of Thames Valley University and St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic School in Westminster, as well as a member of the Reunion des Gastronomes.
