Finnair will
start code-share flights with the Swiss airline, Crossair, from Helsinki
to Basel and from Basel to Geneva, Lugano and Bern as of the beginning
of the summer timetable period, the 25th of March. Crossair planes will
be used on the flights, but Finnair will have the right to sell the
flights, and all flights will have Finnair's airline code.
The daily flights to Basel will use 49-seat Embraer 145 planes, with
take-off from Basel at 8.20 pm, and arrival in Helsinki a little after
midnight, at 00.15 am. The flight will depart from Helsinki as early as
6.40 am, and reach Basel at 8.40 am.
There are excellent through services in Basel, and short transition
times (about 20 minutes) to several destinations in Germany, France,
Italy and Spain, and even in England, in addition to Swiss towns. The
Basel airport itself is situated in the French territory, only 5
kilometres from Basel, 25 kilometres from Mulhouse, and 80 kilometres
from Freiburg.
The code-share flights from Basel to Bern, Geneva and Lugano will be
flown so that the planes will depart from Basel in the mornings and
return there early in the evenings. Crossair is a subsidiary of
Swissair, flying to more than 80 target destinations, and carrying
nearly 6 million passengers a year.
The co-operation agreement between Finnair and Swissair, concerning
three daily flights between Helsinki and Zurich, carried out as
code-share flights with Finnair's planes, will also continue, as at
present, in the summer period. |
