Northwest
Airlines (NASDAQ: NWAC) has announced that Robert D. Isom has been named
vice president-international.
He replaces Michael J. Becker, who became the airline's senior vice
president-human resources, earlier this month.
"Robert is a skilled airline industry leader with management experience
in a number of areas, including financial and operations planning. He
will play a pivotal role in Northwest's plans to expand its
international service, as market conditions permit," said Philip C.
Haan, executive vice president-international, sales and information
services.
Isom, who was vice president-finance since June 2000, will report to
Haan. He will be responsible for the company's Atlantic and Pacific
divisions’ administrative, financial and operations functions. Isom also
assumes the responsibilities of David C. Wookey, who will be retiring
next month as vice president-Asia.
Commenting on Wookey, Haan continued, "David has been a key member of
Northwest's international team that helped the airline continue its
long-term growth strategy in the Asia/Pacific region. We thank him for
his years of service with Northwest and wish him well as he retires,"
Haan added.
Before rejoining Northwest last year, Isom was vice president-revenue
management for America West Airlines. Before that, he served as the
airline’s vice president-operations planning. From 1991-95, Isom held a
number of key assignments for Northwest Airlines in cargo and financial
planning. Prior to Northwest, he served in management positions in
customer service and logistics with Procter & Gamble.
Isom holds bachelor degrees in mechanical engineering and english from
The University of Notre Dame and a master’s of business administration
