A Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) marking cooperation on aviation-related health
and medical issues was signed today between Singapore Airlines (SIA) and
the National Healthcare Group (NHG), a medical body made up of the
various government hospitals and health organisations in Singapore.
The signatories were Mr Loh Meng See, SIA’s Senior Vice President Human
Resources, and Dr Luisa Lee, Chief Executive Officer, New Ventures, of
the NHG.
Under the Memorandum, SIA and the NHG will explore areas of
collaboration in aviation-related medical, health and wellness matters.
As part of the Understanding, the NHG will assist SIA in developing and
maintaining a “Travel Health and Wellbeing” programme, develop
medical-related training programmes, and conduct medical research on
travel health matters as requested by SIA.
Said Mr Loh: “We look forward to a strong working relationship with NHG.
We are confident that the wealth of expertise and experience from both
parties would enhance our overall travel environment.”
This cooperation will cover for an initial period of three years. Being
the lead hospital in the NHG, Tan Tock Seng Hospital will nominate a
principal consultant and at least two other consultants to provide
necessary medical advice to SIA when required. The Memorandum allows for
the Chairman of Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Medical Board to engage
expertise from other hospitals in the NHG whenever SIA requires expert
opinion on any medical issue.
Commenting on this landmark Memorandum, Dr Lee, Chief Executive Office
New Ventures, NHG, said, “NHG is proud to work with SIA on developing
key aviation-related health programmes as well as to advise the Airline
on emerging health issues pertaining to air travel. We believe our
comprehensive medical expertise will prove indispensable in creating an
even healthier air travel environment for SIA and its passengers.” |
