Thai Airways
International Public Company Limited will launch its Electronic
Ticketing (E-Ticketing) service in June 2001, to enhance the efficiency
of the services for THAI passengers. On the occasion of THAIs 41st
anniversary, the airline has improved its technologies in order to meet
and increase the level of customer satisfaction.
E-Ticketing is becoming trend for travelling, which will be made
available to THAIs passengers when they make reservations through the
airlines Reservation Office at tel. no. (66-02) 628-2000 or (66-02)
280-0060-89 (24 hours), via THAIs Ticketing Offices, THAIs travel
agents or THAIs web site www.thaiairways.com. The E-ticketing system is
more convenient, efficient, and less time-consuming when purchasing air
tickets, changing flights, and redeeming tickets which have not been
used, safeguarding in case of passenger ticket loss, and offering added
convenience for flight changes without passengers tickets. With
E-ticketing, all passenger data will be recorded in the computer by the
online computer system.
During the check-in process, passengers are requested to identify
themselves by showing their personal identification card and passport
etc. Passengers may pay with cash or with credit cards for E- ticket
travel.
Electronic Ticketing or E-ticketing is the new way to travel, whereby
paper tickets would no longer be needed. THAIs E-ticketing services
will be implemented on Wednesday, 11th,June 2001, on domestic routes,
which are Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Phuket. E-ticketing services
for international routes such as those in America and Japan will be
implemented in August, while Australia, Germany, Hong Kong and Taiwan
will be effective in September.
Leading airlines that have already implemented the E-ticketing system
are United Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines, Cathay
Pacific Airways, British Airways, US Air, and American Airlines.
