CONTINENTAL AIRLINES OFFERS COMPASSION FARES TO/FROM NEW YORK IN RESPONSE TO TRAGEDY

Travel News Asia Date: 21 September 2001

Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today announced it is offering special compassion fares to and from the New York area to assist family members of the victims of last week's tragedies, relief organizations and volunteers.

Fares of $75, $100 and $150 each way, depending on city of origin, are available for travel to and from the New York area's three major airports: Newark International Airport, LaGuardia and Kennedy International.

These rates are available from most of Continental's U.S. markets to family members of victims, as well as to members of the clergy, employees of the American Red Cross and its local affiliates, police officers and firefighters traveling to New York to assist in the recovery efforts.

To be eligible, travelers must request the "GO USA" fare by calling Continental Airlines Reservations at (800) 525-0280 at least three days before departure and by Sept. 30. Tickets must be purchased for roundtrip travel with a two-night minimum stay. A $100 change fee applies. All travel must be completed by Oct. 31, and tickets are nonrefundable. Seats are based on availability and may not be available on all flights. Fares are subject to change without notice. Fares do not include a $2.75 per segment fee or passenger facilities charges of up to $18, depending on the routing. A segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing.

Relatives of victims should identify themselves to the agents as such. Others requesting the GO USA fare may be required to present identification and verification that they are traveling in connection with the recovery efforts.
