Singapore

the inaugural Singapore International Golf Festival organised by the
Asian PGA Tour.
As the official airline, SIA will be flying big name players to the

Charity Pro Am. Spectators to this event can expect to see international
players like Colin Montgomerie, Vijay Singh, Seve Ballesteros, Andrew
Coltart, Justin Rose and Constantino Rocca compete on the local greens.
The tournament, held at the Singapore Island Country Club’s Bukit Course
from 22 February 2001 to 25 February 2001, will be a treat for fans of
the Asian PGA circuit as players like Jyoti Randhawa, Yeh Wei-Tze, Kyi
Hia Han and Kang Wook-soo are set to turn up in force.
SIA’s Executive Vice President Commercial, Mr Michael Tan said “Over the
next few months, we will be announcing our support of various events
that will boost Singapore in the international calendar of major events,
which will serve as exciting attractions that can promote tourism to
Singapore and the region. This is a major sporting event in Singapore
and we are proud to be associated with it.”
SIA’s sponsorship is another example of its ongoing efforts to help
strengthen Singapore's image as a world-class cultural and sporting
event city. SIA is also a sponsor of one of Asia’s richest horse racing
event, the Singapore Airlines International Cup, which will be held for
the second consecutive year on 12 May 2001.
SIA’s contribution towards local sporting causes also include backing
for the Singapore national football team, regular sponsorship of rebated
air tickets for national sports contingents through the Singapore
National Olympic Council and sponsorship of air travel and cargo for the
teams of Everest 1999, Antarctica 2000, and Everest 2001 expeditions. |
