Continental
Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today reported a 67.1 percent systemwide load
factor in January 2001, 0.8 points below last year's January load
factor. In addition, the international load factor was a record for
January at 69.6 percent, 2.3 points above last year's load factor.
In January 2001, Continental flew 4.9 billion revenue passenger miles
(RPMs) and 7.3 billion available seat miles (ASMs), resulting in a
traffic increase of 4.2 percent and a capacity increase of 5.4 percent
versus January 2000.
International traffic was 1.9 billion RPMs, up 3.5 percent from January
2000, and international capacity was 2.7 billion ASMs, essentially
unchanged from last year.
Continental Express, Continental's wholly owned regional subsidiary,
reported its January load factor of 51.9 percent, 2.9 points below last
January's load factor. Continental Express flew 228.9 million RPMs and
440.7 million ASMs in January, resulting in a traffic increase of 27.6
percent and a capacity increase of 34.6 percent versus January 2000. |
