The Dubai
Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) convened a three-day
high-level meeting (July 16 to 18), of Directors representing the
department's six offices around the world, as part of an initiative to
strengthen the DTCM's overseas office network and further the
professional bond.
"Operating effectively in a global environment demands strategic
response to ever-changing world trends and we at the DTCM have periodic
meetings with our key overseas personnel to maintain our competitive
advantage," said DTCM Director General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem.
Mr. bin Sulayem who chaired the meeting thanked the DTCM overseas office
personnel for the efforts they put in during the course of the year and
said, "Such meetings are conducive to networking and challenge and
encourage our overseas representatives to show initiative, assume
responsibility, act flexibly, learn, develop international and
multicultural competence, and communicate in an open forum."
"Dubai's tourism industry is entering a high growth phase and this
meeting was designed to focus on developing market responsive strategies
to attract more visitors to the emirate, refine service standards, and
study new strategies for marketing the destination," Mr. bin Sulayem
concluded.
Senior personnel attended the meeting from DTCM Representative offices
in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, India, East Africa and South Africa.
The DTCM's network of overseas offices are located in Philadelphia
