~ Connecting
the business centers of Japan and Vietnam ~
All Nippon Airways (ANA), today filed an application to the Japanese
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the commencement of
service between Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh City and the establishment of
code-share operations with Vietnam Airlines on March 27.
Traffic between Japan and Vietnam continues to clock year-on-year
increases, with the number of travelers topping 100,000 in fiscal year
2000.
Kichisaburo Nomura, ANA president and chief executive officer, said:
“The economic vitality of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in recent
years has only magnified its importance to Japan as a business partner
and ANA looks to play a significant role in strengthening ties between
the two nations.”
The aircraft dedicated to the route will be a state-of-the-art
777-200ER, configured in three classes of service with 12 first-class
seats, 63 business-class (Club ANA) seats and 159 seats in economy
class.
Moreover, ANA is pleased to be building upon a successful relationship
with Vietnam Airlines that goes back to March 1998 when connection
service “Tokyo-Hong Kong-Hanoi” (ANA “Tokyo-Hong Kong,” Vietnam Airlines
“Hong Kong-Hanoi”) was set up allowing for improved service. With the
establishment of code-share operations that spirit of cooperation is
further strengthened.
In keeping with the company’s corporate philosophy called “First
