The exotic Angsana Resort & Spa Maldives Ihuru joins SRS-WORLDHOTELS

Travel News Asia Date: 19 December 2001

SRS-WORLDHOTELS, one of the world’s leading and most dynamic hotel marketing and representation consortia, has announced that the brand new Angsana Resort and Spa in The Maldives has become a member of the group.

The Angsana Resort and Spa Maldives Ihuru, which joins SRS-WORLDHOTELS premium hotel category, the deluxe collection, is a 45-villa luxury resort set on its own island in Ihuru, the North Male Atoll of the Republic of the Maldives. This picturesque island with its palm-fringed beaches, crystalline waters and kaleidoscopic reefs is one of the most photographed islands in The Maldives and so is an excellent setting for a holiday getaway.

The décor of each villa is an invigorating mix of tropical and contemporary styles. The 10 Beachfront Jacuzzi Villas are equipped with a luxurious outdoor Jacuzzi while the other 35 Beachfront Villas have outdoor shower facilities. There are also 4 Garden Villas in the inner island fringe with indoor shower facilities. The resort is also offering special promotional rates starting from USD287 per night full board for two people, valid from January 3 to April 30, 2002.

The resort shares the same philosophy of a holistic, non-clinical spa as its sister resort, the Banyan Tree Maldives. The Spa has eight luxurious spa rooms of which two are deluxe ones with outdoor Jacuzzi and steam bath, offering an extensive range of spa treatments and massages that use aromatherapy and the sense of touch to refresh and rejuvenate the spirit as well as the physical being.

Restaurants and bars include the Riveli Restaurant, which serves buffets and set dinners with a breathtaking view of the white sandy beach and turquoise crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. One can enjoy the warmth of the morning sun and see the beams of light welcoming the new day during breakfast. The Velaavani Bar serves exotic refreshing cocktails and tasty snacks in front of the lagoon. Many guests however choose to opt for romantic private villa dining or private dining on the beach, on a nearby sandbank or on a glass-bottom boat.

Mr Roland Jegge, Vice President Asia/Pacific for SRS-WORLDHOTELS said. "We are delighted to welcome this stunning new resort to SRS-WORLDHOTELS and we are confident that our international network will help generate substantial bookings around the world."

Currently, SRS-WORLDHOTELS has almost 400 member hotels in its portfolio, representing over 70,000 rooms in 65 countries and 250 destinations worldwide. In 2000, SRS-WORLDHOTELS generated over 1.2 million room nights for its members and a total turnover of US$192 million – an increase of 17% over the previous year.

SRS-WORDLHOTELS’ Asia/Pacific operation has grown dramatically to 20 staff in four offices around the region. The company has over 50 properties in Asia/Pacific and SRS-WORLDHOTELS saw an increase of over 40% in it room night production from the Asia Pacific region in 2000.
