A new travel
website has launched in Asia, despite all the doom and gloom presently
affecting the industry, in fact the management at this new website feel
the future is, well, rather suite !
Unlike most travel websites this new project is not going to sell
airline tickets, nor even hotel rooms, instead, it is going to act as a
forum for travel industry players to be able to meet and discuss
everything from the latest travel news, events and topics, all the way
through to their favourite golf courses or football teams.
Forums are not a new idea, but they have proved extremely popular on the
internet, as it provides a ground for people from all over the world to
intermingle, share ideas and make friends. In fact it is the community
aspect of forums that have made them so reliable and popular.
SuiteAsia.com claims to be the first specific travel related forum in
Asia, which if true could bode well for its future. The website plans to
generate its income from advertising, a tricky proposition as many
advertisers are increasingly questioning the effectiveness of online
campaigns.
Peter Reginald, Senior Manager of SuiteAsia.com commented, "This is a
perfect opportunity for us to launch SuiteAsia.com, as we now need more
than ever, the opportunity to be able to put our heads together and
share ideas on how to best move the travel industry and our own share
within forward in these troubled times."
He continues, "Of course real life forums such as the WTM, ITB, PATA
Travel Mart etc will always exist but these forums last only for four or
five days a year. SuiteAsia.com will provide the opportunity for the
travel trade to continue to share ideas and 'meet' in the virtual sense
24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Plus because we are not closing off the
forum to consumers, in fact we are also actively encouraging consumers
to come in and participate, it gives the industry an excellent
opportunity to market their products."
"As for the question of advertising, we have already had two serious
enquiries regarding an exclusivity agreement from two of the worlds
largest International hotel chains and so we are not concerned about
that aspect of the business."
Users of SuiteAsia.com are required to register, which takes barely a
few seconds and the site even encourages users to register under an
alias so that they can remain anonymous, and have the potential to ask
silly questions the site claims!
