Summit’s
second business forum to bridge gap between business and e-business
understanding – Dubai, October 2-3 2001
The second Summit Dubai business symposium is set for a repeat
performance as it kicks off a busy season this October following the
commitment of Dubai Internet City (DIC) and other leading blue chips,
according to conference organisers, Global Management Consultants.
"Positioned to bridge the knowledge gap between business and e-business,
Summit Dubai has already gained the support of Dubai Internet City,
Accenture, ASP Gulf, Bywater and Oracle, among others," said Saira
Azhar, chief executive officer of Global.
For the second year running, DIC is to deliver a keynote presentation
likely to support the overriding conference message stressing that
e-business implementation is essential for survival in the New Economy.
Azhar acknowledged that a void between business and e-business seemingly
exists. She attributed some of the unwillingness of businesses to
embrace the e-business lifestyle to a misunderstanding of definitions,
saying that e-commerce and e-business are far too often mistaken for
each other.
"E-commerce is the buying and selling of goods, whereas e-business is
about the way in which traditional business activities are conducted in
the web-driven environment," she said, suggesting that Summit Dubai is
the forum from which delegates can clarify any misconceptions and close
any gap.
"Summit Dubai is not another IT event focussing hardware and software
but is about the impact of e-business on business lives," she stressed.
"It is about embracing the e-business lifestyle for bottom-line success
and about discussing the route to this success with those who know how."
Summit Dubai, scheduled for October 2-3 2001 at Emirates Towers Hotel,
is structured in three parts comprising speaker seminars, B2B showcases
and workshops. It is expected to attract more than 300 business leaders.
