Virgin
Atlantic today announced that it is supporting Olympic Gold Medal
cyclist Jason Queally in his bid to break a land speed record for human
powered vehicles.
To help him with his attempt, Virgin has donated flight tickets and
freight space to transport Jason, his crew and his bicycle - Blue Yonder
Challenger - to Nevada for his record attempt in October. And Jason
should feel very at home in one of Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class seats
as Reynard, the same people responsible for his futuristic vehicle,
built them.
No stranger to challenging record breaking attempts himself, Sir Richard
Branson, Chairman of Virgin Atlantic, said:
“It is a pleasure to be able to send Jason on his way and I will be
watching his progress with interest. Most people know that I like to set
myself challenges and I certainly wish everyone involved all the best of
luck. Jason has already done Britain proud with his Olympic gold and I’m
confident he can do the same with this record attempt.”
John Lloyd, Director of Virgin Atlantic Cargo, said:
“It’s a pleasure to be able to help Jason by transporting the Blue
Yonder Challenger to San Francisco and back for his world record
attempt. Jason is such a dedicated and exceptional man – I wish him well
and look forward to welcoming him back as the new record holder.”
