PRIME MINISTER OF EGYPT HAILS DUBAI'S TOURISM PROMOTIONS

Dubai's tourism promotion drive at the recently concluded Mediterranean Travel Fair (MTF) in Cairo received high praise from the Prime Minister of Egypt, His Excellency Dr. Atef Obeid, who inaugurated the event along with His Excellency Dr. Mamdouh El Beltagui, Egyptian Minister of Tourism.

The delegates showered high praise for Dubai's remarkable promotions and marketing efforts around the world which were attracting the world's focus not just on the emirate but the entire region as a tourist destination.

HE Obeid praised the relations between Egypt and the UAE in all fields including the exchange of expertise and hailed the high levels of co-operation between Egypt and Dubai. He thanked the DTCM and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Minister of Defence and Chairman of the DTCM for participating in MTF.

HE Dr. Beltagui said that Egypt was a keen participant at many tourism events in Dubai including the Arabian Travel Market and Dubai Shopping Festival among others.

"We are pleased with our participation at the MTF more so because intra-regional travel is a rapidly expanding market segment and our participation at MTF has presented us with an opportunity to target those involved in the travel and tourism sector in the region," said DTCM Director General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem.

Dubai's 36 sq.m. stand at the event was the center of activity with a regular flow of travel trade visitors. DTCM Deputy Manager Overseas Promotions, Abdulla Al Falasi who represented the department at the event briefed visitors about Dubai's tourist attractions as well as provided information on GITEX, Dubai Shopping Festival, Pal Island development, Airshow and the IMF/World Bank meeting in 2003.

Mr. Falasi remarked that the event witnessed substantial growth in exhibitors this year by over ten per cent. "The Dubai stand attracted more than 100 travel trade visitors including regional and international delegates and we are positive that our participation will generate a lot of new business."
