A host of
European Tour winners will head east next week when they compete in the
BMW Asian Open at The Westin Resort, Ta Shee, Taiwan from 22nd – 25th
November 2001.
This inaugural event is attracting a big field from the European Tour.
Thomas Levet, winner of The Victor Chandler British Masters, Ian Poulter
winner of The Moroccan Open, Philip Price, winner of the Algarve Open
and Tony Johnstone, winner of the Qatar Masters are just a few of the
stars that will be heading full speed to the US$1.5 million tournament.
Sixty golfers from both the European and Asian PGA Tours will tee up in
Asia’s richest ever event alongside five of the world’s best golfers -
champion of BMW International Open American John Daly, Fiji’s Vijay
Singh, New Zealander Michael Campbell, Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez and
Jose Maria Olazabal, and England’s Nick Faldo.
Sadly Italy’s Costantino Rocca has had to pull out last minute due to a
wrist injury. The former Ryder Cup damaged his right wrist in Holland on
the practice ground and will have to have laser treatment in order to
dry the liquid in the knuckle.
