Mutiara Hotels & Resorts was officially launched officially launched on
13 April, 2001 by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Yang Amat
Berhormat Dato’ Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi at a special dinner
reception to be held at the opulent and Grand Nirwana Ballroom of
Mutiara Kuala Lumpur.
Hosted by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PERNAS
International Holdings Berhad, YM Tunku Tan Sri Dato’ Shahriman Tunku
Sulaiman, the auspicious event marked another milestone in PERNAS
history as being the leading hotel player in Malaysia.

Hotels & Resorts currently operate six properties located in key cities
and resorts destinations in the country. They include Mutiara Burau Bay
Beach Resort in Langkawi, Mutiara Hotel Johor Bahru (as of August 2001);
Mutiara Hotel Kuala Lumpur; Mutiara Pedu Lake & Golf Lake Resort in
Kedah, Mutiara Beach Resort Penang and Mutiara Taman Negara National
Park Resort, Pahang.
The launching of Mutiara Hotels & Resorts marked the company’s vision to
establish itself as a premier hotel brand that provides warm and

More than 300 guests comprising ministers, senior government officials,
ambassadors and other dignitaries will witness the historical moment of
