Marriott
International (NYSE:MAR) announced that the Yangtze New World Hotel was
converted to the Renaissance Yangtze Shanghai Hotel last week. This is
the first Renaissance-branded hotel in mainland China.
The hotel is owned by the Shanghai New Asia Group, Hong Kong Renful
Int'l Ltd., Bank of China Shanghai Trust & Consultancy Co, Shanghai Hong
Qiao United Development Co. Ltd, and Kincheng Banking Corporation (HK
Branch).
Located in the Hongqiao area, Shanghai’s business hub, the Renaissance
Yangtze Shanghai Hotel is convenient to both Pudong and Hongqiao
airports. It is adjacent to the Shanghai Mart, Shanghai International
Exhibition/Trade Centers and a 10 minute drive to the Everbright
Exhibition Center.
All of the hotel’s rooms have been refurbished to five-star standards.
They have satellite TV and movie channels, mini bars, IDD telephones,
central air-conditioning with individual climate control, and data ports
in each room. Non-smoking floors are available.
For dining and entertainment, the Renaissance Yangtze Shanghai Hotel has
four restaurants and a lobby lounge. The Renaissance Café serves a
buffet for breakfast and dinner as well as an a la carte menu of Asian
and Western dishes. The Pastisserie offers homemade breads, pastries,
cakes, and other specialties. The Dynasty restaurant features the
authentic Cantonese dish, dim sum, and other regional specialties. The
Food Pavilion is a casual restaurant serving Cantonese noodle dishes as
well as snacks from Shanghai. In addition, the hotel plans to open an
Italian restaurant, Japanese sushi bar and wine and cigar bar in the
near future.
For meetings and conferences, the Renaissance Yangtze Shanghai Hotel
offers a multi-purpose ballroom and pre-function area, which can
accommodate 450 people for banquet-seating and 1,000 people for
cocktails. In addition, the hotel has three meeting rooms, which can
hold 10-70 people. Two boardrooms and a private lounge are available for
guests staying on the club floors.
The Renaissance Yangtze Shanghai Hotel along with over 2,100

the guest reward program that allows members to earn their choice of
