Shangri-La
Hotels and Resorts announces a new airline alliance with KLM Royal Dutch
Airlines, increasing the group's total number of frequent flyer
partnerships to 27 - the largest number of loyalty programmes from an
Asian-based hotel company. With immediate effect, KLM Flying Dutchman
members will receive 300 Flying Dutchman points every time they stay at
any of Shangri-La's 38 hotels and resorts on a corporate rate or above.
To mark the agreement Shangri-La is offering all Flying Dutchman members
double points throughout July and August.
Commenting on the new partnership, Carmen Lam, Shangri-La's Group Sales
and Marketing Director, said: "We are delighted to welcome KLM to our
growing network of Frequent Flyer partners. KLM is one of the most
prestigious airlines in the world and also, as the world's first
scheduled airline still operating under its original name, has the
longest history. With flights from major European hubs to over 500
destinations, including locations all over South East Asia, the addition
of KLM not only boosts our global presence, but also greatly expands the
benefit potential for our European frequent flyer guests."
"With Shangri-La as a new quality partner we are able to complement the
high-quality service we provide with the Flying Dutchman Programme.
Additional earning opportunities can now be offered, making a combined
KLM flight and Shangri-La stay even more attractive," said Lesley
McDermott, Director of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Loyalty Programme.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, the largest Asian-based luxury hotel
company in the region, currently manages 38 hotels in China, Hong Kong
SAR, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia,
Myanmar and Fiji Islands, with a rooms inventory of over 19,000. It has
recently announced plans to open five more hotels in the Middle East and
China: two in Dubai, Oman and in China's Zhongshan and Zhengzhou. |
