PRESS RELEASE FROM EXOTISSIMO TRAVEL VIETNAM FOR 'HUE FESTIVAL 2000'

Hue Festival 2000 8 -19 April 2000

For the first time ever an international arts festival is

to be staged in Vietnam's former imperial capital, Hue.

Funded jointly by the Vietnamese and French

governments the festival featuring performers from

both countries will last from 8th to 19th April. The

festival opens with an "Ancient City Night" show

performed by 400 student dancers at the Imperial

Citadel and concludes 12 days later with a "Night

of Lanterns" when 30,000 glowing candles and 300

lantern boats will drift down the Perfume River.

Visiting French troupes will perform ballets and

other shows while a variety of other activities will

take place around the city including boat races, kite

flying contests and exhibitions featuring the work of
