The Hilton
Mauritius Resort will open on November 1, 2000 on Mauritius Island.
Located in Wolmar, one hour from the Sir Seewoosagur International
Airport, this
five-star resort will offer guest exceptionally sunny weather and an
ideal
location on the western side of the island, protected from the trade
winds by
the lagoon. The hotel is on Flic-en-Flac beach, one of the most famous
spots on
the island which is known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean".
The resort, a $40 million investment, will feature 193 rooms with
balconies or
terraces, all of which have an ocean view, and also includes 18 suites
and rooms
for the disabled. Rooms will feature individual air conditioning, a mini
bar,
safe with individual combination, colour TV and VCR with additional
speakers in
the bathroom, 24-hour room service, etc.
The hotel will also include a 3,500 square foot lobby, three meeting
rooms, an
additional 1,300 square-foot room, shops, a hairdresser and beauty shop,
a
fitness club, swimming pool, jacuzzi, wedding pavilion, and a helicopter
landing
pad.
The hotel will host a variety of restaurants: the Ginger Thai for
cuisine from
Thailand, the Melanzane with Mediterranean dishes and fish, and the
Pomme
d'Amour that will serve local and international fare. Hotel guests can
also eat
at the Coquillages restaurant located by the pool that also serves meals
on the
beach.
Unlimited Excursions and Recreation
At the crossroads of three continents, Mauritius is an ethnic and
cultural
mosaic where Hindus, Creoles, Europeans, and Chinese live together
peacefully in
this little corner of paradise, with rocky peaks that plunge into the
indigo
waters, luxurious vegetation, and unique natural reserves_ Visitors have
a
multitude of things to see and do.
The Hilton Mauritius Resort will organise a number of trips to : the
Trou aux
Cerfs, an extinct volcano for hikers, or the Black River Gorge National
Park
where guests can admire over 6,500 hectares (nearly 35 sq. miles) home
to nine
types of birds found only on Mauritius Island.
The hotel will also organise visits of Port-Louis (the capital city of
the
island), the Bird Garden of Casela, and the Pamplemousses Botanical
Garden,
renowned among botanists the world over for its 500 species of exotic
trees and
plants. Guests can also sail with local fishermen as they harvest
lobsters in
the lagoon.
The Hilton Mauritius Resort offers many more treats to its guests. At

or in the immediate vicinity they can choose between scuba diving,
undersea
safaris, catamarans, a tour of the island by helicopter, or golf_ To
help guests
relax at the end of the day, a sauna will be installed in the hotel in
early
2001.
