CORPORATE MOVES AT MERITUS

Singapore, May 22, 2000 - Meritus Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce following appointments which took effect in April:

Emile Q L Thai, Corporate Director of Sales
After a year in Istanbul, supervising the Group’s project in the Turkish Mediterranean coast, Emile returns to Singapore to take up the newly-created position of Corporate Director of Sales. He was with the Corporate Office of Meritus for many years before his various assignments overseas.

Danny Kwek, Regional Director of Sales

– Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand & Philippines

Danny, who has also been with the Group for many years, was Director of Marketing for Shanghai JC Mandarin and subsequently Penang Mutiara Beach. Prior to this appointment, he was Executive Assistant Manager at Meritus Negara Singapore. His experience in Sales and Operations will be an asset in his new position.

Ailynn Seah, Director of Marketing, Marina Mandarin Singapore
Ailynn started her career at the Mandarin Singapore. Since then she has served at both the flagship’s Sales & Marketing Department as well as in the Group’s Singapore Regional Sales Office as well as Corporate Office. Her new appointment brings her full circle back to a hotel - this time, the Marina Mandarin.

In announcing these appointments, Michael Ow, President of the Group, said, “We will see more and more of these lateral movements in our new organisation structure. To keep our experienced and talented officers at their best, we want to provide them with a broad exposure to the ever-changing environment. To achieve this, they need to move around within the Group. These lateral movements will strengthen our group culture, and encourage a healthy exchange of ideas and best practices.”
