Macau International Fireworks Display Contest

Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, the world most illustrious, will be held between September 9th and October 1st of this year. The contest is a match between ten international teams.

The ten teams participating the 12th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest are originated from European and Asian countries and regions, possessing their own uniqueness. Teams from Taiwan, Portugal and Switzerland have participated in the previous Fireworks Display Contests and have gotten rave results. All participating teams have excellent experience and in no doubt that they will bring tremendous amazement to spectators; adding more colors to the festivities.

With Mid-Autumn Festival coming up, the sky of Macau is expected to be lit up by breathtaking fireworks. The Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, organized by Macau Government Tourist Office of Macau Special Administrative Region and sponsored by Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau, has always been a colossal event.

This annual event attracts an influx of tourists and local residents. Aside from accelerating Macau’s tourism industry and increasing exposure, the organizer also arrange the fireworks display on the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, therefore, spectators can enjoy the festivities while taking pleasure in the spectacular fireworks.

The Macau International Fireworks Display Contest first started in 1989, at the time only five teams were in the league including Portugal, China, Japan and Taiwan. Until 1995, the event has gained its fame and from the original 5-team contest tote up to ten teams, with two different teams showing their talent each night.

For the past ten years, a total of fifteen countries or regions and over fifty international teams had taken part in the Macau International Fireworks Display Contest. The Macau Government Tourist Office have always been working hard to advance this event’s status and reputation internationally, having the vision to bring about the world most prominent International Fireworks Display.

This year’s contesting team includes the Philippine’s 777 Fireworks, Australia’s KC’s Fireworks, Germany’s NICO Fireworks, Japan’s Senboku Kako Ltd., Thailand’s Plu Sukothai Fireworks, Portugal’s Macedo’s Pirotecnia, England’s Pyro 2000 Fireworks, Taiwan’s Wan Dar Fireworks, China’s Jing Tai Fireworks, and Switzerland’s Bugano Fireworks.

To provide a better environment for the public to enjoy the annual Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, the organizer will set up tables and chairs for the public at the Ave. De Sagres, the site opposite the front entrance of Hotel Liboa.

From 8pm to 10:30pm every night of the firework display, the public can sit relaxing while enjoying the spectacular fireworks that light up the sky. Stalls selling snacks and beverages will also be available.

The Fireworks Display Contest is scheduled to stage on the nights of September 9, 12, 16, 23 and October 1 at the reclamation land of Nam Van.
