Reporting
strong performance in all areas of its operations, including record May
load factors systemwide and in its domestic and Pacific entities,
Northwest Airlines announced today that it flew 6.81 billion revenue
passenger miles (RPM) in May, an increase of 8.7 percent from 6.27
billion RPM in the previous year. Available seat miles (ASM) increased
2.5 percent, from 8.38 billion ASM in May 1999 to 8.58 billion ASM in
2000. Systemwide passenger load factor (PLF) was 79.4 percent, an
increase of 4.5 points from the previous year.
Cargo ton miles (CTM) systemwide were up 12.2 percent from 1999's 187.0
million CTM to 209.9 million CTM in May 2000.
“We are continuing to see strong demand for our services in our domestic
markets and substantial improvements in the Pacific,” said John Dasburg,
