KLM Cargo
today announced it will increase cargo rates in most key European and
Asia Pacific markets. The increases will apply to most routes, but
especially on outbound Europe to North America flights and outbound and
inbound flights between Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The
increases will range between 5 and 10 percent.
In most markets the increases will be implemented on October 1, 2000. In
the Netherlands they will take effect a month earlier on September 1.
These increases follow increased demand. During the first quarter cargo
traffic increased by 4 percent, while yields rose by 13 percent. First
quarter cargo revenues rose by 17 percent versus last year.
Cargo rates will increase by, for example, 10 to 20 euro cents per kilo
on routes between Europe and the cities of Chicago, New York, Los
Angeles, Houston and Mexico City.
On routes to and from the Asia Pacific region, rates will, for example,
increase by 10 to 15 euro cents per kilo between Europe and Manila,
Kuala Lumpur and cities in Japan. |
